Youth Scrabble

Victoria has had a proud history of fostering young talent in Scrabble. We have produced one National Youth Champion, two World Youth Scrabble Champions, and one World Champion; initiatives are currently being explored to help grow our younger player base.

Representation at the World Youth Scrabble Championship

Victoria sent one representative to the World Youth Scrabble Championship held in Waskaduwa, Sri Lanka.

Oscar was one of three Australian representatives who attended, with all three acquitting themselves well! Oscar finished the best of the Aussies in 19th place (out of a field of 136).

Oscar becomes the first Australian Junior Scrabble Champion

The first ever Australian Junior Scrabble Championship was run in August 2024, held in Sydney, NSW.

Oscar Ivanovski was Victoria's sole representative for the event, and, as Australia's highest ranked young player, was a favorite to take out the title.

The event was a close run thing, with it going down to the last round to determine the title; and with a win over Ryder Lo in Round 7, Oscar confirmed his victory and went undefeated!

Many congratulations!
